NON NHS WORK

Please be aware the GPs will NOT write a letter or complete forms for any fitness to fly or  fitness to take part in any activites etc.

Patients request letters from their GP for a number of reasons and our doctors are frequently asked to provide private  “To Whom It May Concern” letters or reports for third parties.  For these types of letters/reports there will be a charge, payable up front. Please contact the surgery to enquire as to what the cost of your letter/report might be.

We will not accept requests for “the doctor must write these exact words”.  The GP will write what they know, supported by your medical record.  Both the letter and the opinion they produce is final and you cannot request changes to be made unless factually incorrect and the GP agrees.  The GP has the right to refuse your request to provide alternative wording.

Why is there a charge?

The cost of these letters and reports are not covered by the NHS.  All letters require the doctor to take time to review a patient’s medical records to ensure that the information provided is correct, then the doctor has to dictate the letter and finally the secretary has to type and print it.

Timescale:

Private letters and reports do not take priority over NHS work.  Please allow 28 days for any requests to be fulfilled, after payment.  For a turnaround time of up to 5 days for letters, reports etc this will incur a 25% surcharge.

Requesting a letter:

Requests for letters must be made via clicking on the “Contact the Surgery” link on our website and you must clearly state the reason for the letter.  Any reports etc that need completing need to be brought in to the Surgery.
